Windows 98 SE can not browse

If Windows 98 does not enjoy browsing and email while setting DNS, Gateway and IP address are correct and pinging a normal response, can be overcome by the following:

1. Click Start -> Control Panel -> Add Remove Programs -> Windows Setup tabs
2. Remove check mark in Communication -> click Apply
3. When asked to reboot say "no"
4. Click Start -> Run type regedit
5. HKLM \\ System \\ CurrentControlSet \\ Services \\ Winsock2
6. right click select delete
7. Click Start -> Control Panel -> Add Remove Programs -> Windows Setup tabs
8. Give check mark on Communication -> click Apply
9. When asked to reboot say "yes"
10. After rebooting try to browse.
